At Fırat University, a panel was held to commemorate the 1030th anniversary of the Manas Epic.

The panel on the “1030th Anniversary of the Manas Epic,” in which our department was also a stakeholder, was held at the Prof. Dr. Bahaeddin Ögel Conference Hall at Fırat University. Faculty members from our department—Prof. Dr. Ercan Alkaya, Prof. Dr. S. Kaan Yalçın, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özeren, and Dr. Lecturer Veysel İ. Karaca—served on the organizing committee and participated as session chairs, panelists, and coordinators during the panels. The event, held both at the Prof. Dr. Bahaeddin Ögel Conference Hall and at the Elazığ Cengiz AYTMATOV Millet Bahçesi, was attended by Chief Advisor to the President of Kyrgyzstan Çolponbek Abıkeev, Governor of Elazığ Numan Hatipoğlu, our Rector Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Göktaş, General Director of the Manas Tomb Munduzbek Tentimişov, President of the Kyrgyz Writers’ Union Kanıbek İmanaliyev, President of the Manas Academy Aziz Birmırza Ulu, faculty members of Fırat University, students, and local citizens.

During the panel, experts discussed the place of the Manas Epic in Kyrgyz culture, its influence within the Turkic world, and its significance in the oral literary tradition.

At the conclusion of the program, our faculty members were honored with the “Manas Medal” awarded by the Presidency of the Manas Academy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
